Ptolus Photo Gallery: Page Proofs!
Our latest Ptolus
online art gallery documents a pretty exciting day for Sue and me: the day the
Ptolus page proofs came in from the printer! The proofs of the book itself
and all its other components landed with a thud on our front porch in a number
of overnight packages. Usually when a book comes in from the printer in page
proofs it takes Sue only an hour or two to go over it, making sure all the pages
are there, that the art reproduced properly, and so forth. With Ptolus,
it took an entire day, ending with her racing to the Fed Ex office to send them
back with our approvals so the book could be put on press.
This little photo gallery
gives you a look at some of the pieces of the book, such as the poster map (both
sides) and handouts. Click on the pieces below to see larger versions.

Sue
examines each of the handouts to make sure they don't have any stray white
edges on any side of the page.

"Side
B" of the poster map depicts Goth Gulgamel and Jabel Shammar. Cartographer
Ed Bourelle designed it so that the segments of the maps correspond to
the folds, making it easier to use around the game table without revealing
too much that the PCs haven't discovered yet.

Sue
confirms that the version of the city map on the poster matches the one
on the player's handouta necessary precaution considering that we
made some map changes right up to the deadline.
|
Checking
each page of the 672-page book pretty much took the game table out of
commission for the day.
